You Are No Longer Drinking From BPA Plastic But What Did Your Dinner Come in Last Night?

What did you have for dinner last night?

Maybe you were eating healthy and had a Organic Greens Spring Mix of lettuce with low fat cottage cheese.  Both come in plastic containers..

Maybe you are counting calories and tried a Lean Cuisine.  Again plastic…

Maybe it was just an Amy’s Organic Tomato Soup.  It is so good, but it comes in a can…

Does it matter?

Here is what scientist have found:

BPA is commonly found in most packaging material.  It has been in use in country for more than 40 years and although controversial, laboratory studies have linked to breast cancer, infertility, early puberty, and other serious health problems. Even at low doses, Bisphenol A has been linked to cancer, birth defects, miscarriages, obesity, and insulin resistance, which can lead to Type II diabetes.

Here is just one example of what exposer to BPA can cause:

“Scientists at the Breast Cancer Fund and Silent Spring Institute discovered an average drop of 60 percent in BPA levels when study participants ate a diet that avoided contact with BPA-containing food packaging, such as canned food and polycarbonate plastic.” -http://www.enewspf.com/latest-news/health-and-fitness/23065-food-packaging-significant-source-of-bpa-exposure-new-study-finds.html
So, how can we avoid BPA?

Avoid using any plastic containers to heat food or liquids in microwaves.

Avoid using old and scratched plastic bottles altogether.

Stainless steel bottles that do not have a plastic liner are best.

BPA is found in polycarbonate plastic food containers often marked on the bottom with the letters “PC” recycling label #7. Not all #7 labeled products are polycarbonate but this is a reasonable guideline for a category of plastics to avoid.

Avoid most Canned Foods.  The majority of canned foods are exposed to this toxic chemical. Bisphenol-A is a plastic and resin ingredient used to line metal food and drink cans.

Do not wash plastic in the dishwasher.

Below is an link to a great study.  So great that USATODAY (Mainstream News) reported it!  In the study, researchers found that we can cut our BPA exposure by eating more fresh fruits and veggies and less food from cans and plastic.
